• Use protective clothing - scrubs, laboratory coats, gloves, protective eyewear, masks
• Change gloves after each patient contact
• Wash hands and instruments thoroughly after each patient contact
• Heat sterilization all nondisposable instruments
• Disinfect surfaces and equipment after each patient
• Discard disposable needles and syringes in puncture-resistant containers
